Senior Thesis
My main research question I am basing my thesis on is
How can the integration of modern lace block printing techniques enhance the design of a timeless wedding dress, balancing tradition and contemporary aesthetics in bridal fashion?
In today’s bridal industry, many designers focus on creating unique, modern designs, but often stray away from “traditional” bridal aesthetics. Jessica Schiff believes there is profound beauty in timeless garments – ones where both grandparents and future generations would be wowed by. Through Schiff’s research and collection, she strives to design wedding gowns that seamlessly blend modernity with timeless elegance. Drawing inspiration from bridal styles across different decades, Schiff designed, and screen printed a floral repeat featuring roses and bow motifs inspired by her mother’s wedding bouquet and lace from an ensemble from 1903. The silhouettes are influenced by bridal trends from the 1900s, 1920s, and 1960s, creating a harmonious fusion of past and present.
With the collection Rose & Reverie, Schiff’s goal is to redefine timeless bridal fashion, where innovation enhances tradition, and every gown tells a story that transcends generations.
